Assessment of Ozone Nanobubble Technology to Reduce Freshwater Algae

چکیده

Algal blooms can lead to low dissolved oxygen and fluctuating pH, the toxins produced by some species be toxic aquatic animals. In this study, we assessed potential of ozone nanobubble technology for reducing a diatom species, Nitzschia sp., commonly found in freshwater ponds Hong Kong. This study suggests that at dose 0.025 ± 0.003 ppm was sufficient reduce algae 66.4% within 5 minutes treatment. An even higher killing effect (68.2%) observed when delivered using nanobubbles 9 minutes. A 24-hour delayed also detected, with further reduction approximately 10% both treatments (macro delivery methods). addition controlling algae, applying level is not detrimental fish may benefit levels pond systems.

Efficacy of Ozone to Reduce Fungal Spoilage and Aflatoxin Contamination in Peanuts

Peanuts (Arachis hypogea L.) are important substrates for the growth and subsequent aflatoxin production by different members of Aspergillus. The aims of the current study were to identify the toxigenic fungi associated with peanut and to study the effect of ozone gaseous (O3) on fungal spoilage and aflatoxin concentration in peanuts. Peanut samples were collected from three Egyptian governorat...

Freshwater Algae: Identification and Use as Bioindicators

Algae are widely present in freshwater environments, such as lakes and rivers, where they are typically present as micro-organisms – visible only with the aid of a light microscope. Although relatively inconspicuous, they have a major importance in the freshwater environment, both in terms of fundamental ecology and in relation to human use of natural resources. This book considers the diversit...

Innovative Algae Dewatering Technology

Abstract This paper describes a novel technology for dewatering of bio materials, such as algae, for biofuel production and other applications. This hydrodynamic separation (HDS) technology uses customized fluid flow patterns to focus suspended particulates into a well-defined band near a side wall of a curved channel, and where they can be separated off with a suitably designed flow splitter. ...
